Sodium fluoride is an inorganic salt which is mainly used as medication for strengthening the density of bones. Fluoride in combination with calcium can act on teeth to prevent enamel corrosion. It is a crystalline white powder and is soluble in water. Infants below the age of 6 years shouldn’t use this medication at all.

Ways to use sodium fluoride:

This medication can be taken by mouth and the dosage should be based as per the recommendation of the dentist. Usually, the dosage is based on the patient’s age as well. This medication is also available in liquid form. It can be either taken directly or can be mixed with liquids and juices. However, you shouldn’t drink it with dairy products.

This medication is also available in chewable form. For instance, lozenges are available which you can have after brushing your teeth at bedtime. To get the best results, you should avoid eating anything at least 30 minutes after you take this medication.

Pregnant women shouldn’t be taking Natrium fluoride without seeking advice from your doctor. Describe your medical history to the doctor before you take this medication.
